Film about Alan Turing

A film with the title The Imitation Game was produced about the life of Alan Turing, the British mathematician genius, Second World War codebreaker, and pioneer in the research of artificial intelligence. The genius, who had a life of vicissitudes, was acted by Benedict Cumberbatch, the film was directed by Morten Tyldum from Norway. The film will be first shown in cinemas in the United Kingdom on 14 November, while its premier will be one week later in the United States.

Partly filmed in Bletchley Park, the legendary codebreaking centre, on 8 October this movie will open the BFI London Film Festival, an event much acknowledged by professionals, and held for the 58th time this year.

Festival director Clare Stewart said “Featuring extraordinary performances from the British talent in front of the camera and vividly directed by Morten Tyldum, The Imitation Game does cinematic justice to Alan Turing’s vision, determination and personal story as well as his enduring impact on British history and contemporary life.”

The Imitation Game, based on the greatly successful biographical book Alan Turing: The Enigma written by the mathematician and gay rights activist Andrew Hodges (www.synth.co.uk), was created in British-American co-production with a budget of 15 million US dollars.
