Looking back on CES and 2014 seen from 2034

The big-time Consumer Electronics Show, CES, launched in 1967, has always strived to provide an insight into the future of high-tech. Language translators, virtual reality systems, and robots have been at action in CES exhibition halls at various venues. This year in January CES is held only in Las Vegas, but Chicago used to host “summer CES” until the mid-1990s. Despite high hopes, much of the new technology did not come to reality as development took different directions. Some of the novelties of yesteryears would make us smile. Will we find the “high-tech future” presented in 2014 just as ridiculous in 2034? The images below present some of the marvels displayed in the not-too-distant past.
