On 10th June, the collection of the Computer History Museum (CHM,http://www.computerhistory.org/) in Mountain View, California, received another machine as a temporary exhibit (until May 2014) – Watson, a historical milestone, and a vintage piece today. Watson was the first computer system to win the one-million-dollar first prize in a match against two champions of the time in 2011 in the television game show, Jeopardy! (launched in 1964).
Watson was introduced in a presentation by IBM?s research director, John Kelly (on the left in the picture conversing with John Hollar, CHM?s director).
Visitors can write their names on the stage podium of the original show, where the system made its debut. They can take photos of themselves together with Watson, can learn about Watson and (according to IBM) about the next period in ICT to come, can gain an insight into cognitive computer science, and can also compete against a simulated Watson.
