The first web browser

The world’s first web browser, the WorldWideWeb browser, was released at Christmas, on 25 December in 1995. It was developed by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web, and the browser was subsequently renamed as Nexus in order to avoid confusing it with the internet or “www”. It was in use for three years before its “career” ended in January 1994.

Berners-Lee used the initial browser that only had text-based interface to navigate the web. Since the use of the internet was very much restricted in the early 1990s, Nexus did not become widely-spread.
